I honour and acknowledge the First Nations peoples who have strong connections to the land on which I live: the Syilx, the Sinixt, the Secwepmec, and the Ktunaxa. As an art therapist, I value the land as a co-facilitator and give respect to the Indigenous land-based and healing arts practices that pre-date Eurocentric practices. I am grateful for the teachings I have learned from Indigenous knowledge keepers and allies and am committed to being culturally responsive, holding space for truth-telling, for listening, for unsettling, for creativity, for reclamation and for transformation.
